Unfold

«Unfold» is reawakening, blossoming, unraveling. MAÍRA's second EP completes the cycle that the trio began in the summer with the EP «Fold». After snuggling up in the dragon's cave, MAÍRA are now on the way to something new, out of grief into the world, «Fänschter uf, Himmel blau». From «Minha Pele», a mantra and love song to one's own body, to «No Foot in Reality», shaking oneself awake from overthinking, «Unfold» is an attempt to find strength in vulnerability.

«Aber au wenn mir keini Flügel wachse / Chan ich mich wiiter entfalte / Und mich wie Origami neu formiere / Trotz Angst mich ganz z’verliere.»

On "Unfold," singer Maíra Zaugg tells stories in Swiss German, English and Portuguese, and producer Ti Kuhn and drummer Simon Guyer play with rock guitar riffs ("No Foot in Reality") or add experimental electronic sounds to spoken word ("Drachehöhli"). MAÍRA circle around pop, nestle and fold themselves into it in order to develop themselves and the music from it in a completely new way.
